Daniel is currently the Executive Director of the Siskiyou Field Institute, a non-profit in the Siskiyou Mountains of Southern Oregon, one of the most biodiverse areas in the world. The Institute provides environmental education classes for both adults and youth, and facilitates scientific research. Daniel is also a freelance writer, focusing on the outdoors, health and fitness. For the past six years he has been an independent consultant, managing stream restoration projects and providing fundraising and strategic planning services to a wide variety of non-profits. Prior to that he was the E.D. of the Applegate River Watershed Council, and has served as a hydrologist for both the U.S. Forest Service and the Hoopa Valley Tribe.
