Jen in currently pursuing a PhD in Geography at West Virginia University. Her research is focused on constructing a participatory map of Coal River Valley in Southern West Virginia, with an emphasis on visually demonstrating the social and environmental impacts of mountaintop removal coal mining. In addition, Jen is working on a second CD compilation project to raise funds and awareness for the residents of the southern coal fields. This CD will include an interactive map that links to interviews and music from the valley, as well as curriculum for teachers to use the CD creatively in class. In 2004, Jen produced a compilation CD of music and interviews entitled 'Moving Mountains: Voices of Appalachia Rise Up Against Mountaintop Removal Coal Mining' which raised approximately $8000 for local grassroots groups.
