Ángel Ibañez

Ángel is an MBA and MPP candidate at MIT's Sloan School of Management and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where he is a Bacon Environmental Fellow through the Center for Public Leadership. His work focuses on expanding clean energy and ensuring low-income and communities of color are part of and benefit from the clean energy transition. Angel was born and raised in San José, CA, where he later served as an Advisor to the Mayor of San José on environmental justice and clean energy issues. His work in the Mayor's office focused on advancing policies and programs that reduced greenhouse gas emissions and closed the clean energy divide for disadvantaged communities. As part of this work, he helped the city pass an all-electric building requirement that banned natural gas in all new construction and expanded electric vehicle charging.

Angel has worked as an environmental justice community organizer where he helped to mobilize Latino voters to advocate for progressive clean energy policies in California, and as a sustainability researcher at the U.S. Agency for International Development and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development. He holds a B.A. from UCLA and is proud to be the first in his family to graduate from college.
