Ann Grodnik

Ann is a Senior Advisor, Climate Change Adaptation for the City of Seattle and Seattle Public Utilities. She focuses on leveraging SPU water management investments to generate broader multisector partnerships around equity-based public health and environmental quality of life improvements. Through this work, in partnership with SPU management and subject matter experts across SPU lines of business, Ann helps to develop SPU’s community-centered investment and climate resiliency approaches.

Prior to this position, Ann has worked as a resiliency program consultant, a non-profit development director, an investment banker and a financial analyst. Ann has extensive experience working with utilities in the Northwest and nationally and an understanding of the catalytic role utility investments can play in terms of building climate resilience, community health and social equity.  For the last five years she worked as a project manager at APTIM, a 10,000 person energy infrastructure and engineering company, focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy and resiliency program management for utilities and local governments.  Ann’s projects – ranging from planning for a resettlement of a native community of climate refugees in coastal Louisiana to developing an on-bill financing program for rural cooperatives in Wisconsin – draw upon extensive stakeholder outreach, coordination and orchestration skills. Ann served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Guinea, West Africa. She earned a BA in English Literature from the University of Vermont, an MS in Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
