Anna Milkowski

Anna teaches teaches biology and environmental science at Phillips Academy, Andover. Her environmental science courses - on climate change, agriculture, and water resources - incorporate environmental and public health perspectives. She also works to integrate sustainability into institutional ethos and practice and has collaborated with the Rainforest Alliance to bring case studies and a global perspective to the classroom. Anna completed a joint master’s degree between the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Yale School of Public Health. Prior to graduate school, Anna taught at The Putney School and at Andover, experiences that developed her deep interest in education and belief in its power to induce social change. While at Yale, Anna explored ways to integrate public health into conservation planning and practice, worked in the field of conservation finance, and conducted research on land use and infectious disease. Teaching remained a central interest, as she worked as a teaching fellow for courses in environmental law and policy and in social determinants of health. Anna welcomes discussion and collaboration on environmental science education, school sustainability, and opportunities to integrate public health with science teaching. Bicycling is one of Anna’s great passions. She holds a B.A. in Biology from Harvard.
