Carol Ojeda-Kimbrough

Carol Ojeda Kimbrough is a doctoral student at UCLA's School of Public Policy and Social Research, Department of Urban Planning in the environmental planning track where her research focus is on environmental justice, public participation and community economic development. She is also a research fellow at the Center for the Study of Urban Poverty, and was a teaching fellow with the UCLA Institute of the Environment. She taught an undergraduate seminar on The Urban Environment and Social Justice at UCLA (Spring Quarter, 2000) and took her students on a 'Toxics Tour' of Southeast Los Angeles. Carol and her students also visited community gardens in Los Angeles to observe how various neighborhoods address environmental blight and food security for the residents of these neighborhoods. Students were moved by the experience and have volunteered to help at one of the community gardens. Currently, Carol is a consultant with the UCLA Labor Center and is conducting a case study on environmental justice and labor unions.
