About Cecilia's Work

Cecilia completed her BA in biology and environmental studies at Williams College. After graduating, she spent two years in Central and South America studying tropical deforestation and forest conservation. She then worked for two-and-a-half years at the Conservation Foundation in Washington, DC on Central American environmental issues and US agricultural policy. While working on her MS in forest management, Cecilia traveled to Indonesia to study the conflict between commercial forestry and indigenous agroforestry. She also worked on Clinton's forest plan for the Pacific Northwest (FEMAT). She conducted dissertation research on institutions for community participation in forestry management in a small forest-dependent town in northern California. Cecelia is currently an Associate Professor in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont.
