About Daniel's Work
Daniel is currently the Executive Director of the Johnson Creek Watershed Council, an organization that restores an urban and agricultural watershed in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area by engaging more than 1,300 volunteers each year and by collaborating closely with its jurisdictional partners. Prior to that, Daniel was the Executive Director of the Siskiyou Field Institute, a non-profit in southern Oregon that provides environmental education classes for both adults and youth, and facilitates scientific research. Daniel is also a freelance writer, focusing on the outdoors, health and fitness. Prior to that, Danie spent six years as an independent consultant, managing stream restoration projects and providing fundraising and strategic planning services to a wide variety of non-profits. Prior to that he was the Executive Director of the Applegate River Watershed Council, and has served as a hydrologist for both the U.S. Forest Service and the Hoopa Valley Tribe. Before graduate school, he worked for eight years as a software engineer.
