About Elizabeth's Work
Beth works in the Catskill Mountains-the source of New York City's drinking water supply-as Program Director for the Stream Management Program with the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. She manages a small diverse group of professionals in their efforts to enhance the long term stewardship of streams and floodplains in the NYC Watershed. The Program involves close collaboration with Soil and Water Conservation Districts to develop stream management plans that address multiple objectives in an ecological framework: reduced rates of streambed and bank erosion, fisheries habitat restoration, flood reduction, and water quality improvement. The core of Beth's work is providing technical assistance to the public to allow their informed participation in the management of the Catskill watershed.
