Jo Anne Shatkin on Using Market-Based Mechanisms to Achieve Environmental Sustainability

Fellow(s): Jo Anne Shatkin

Jo Anne Shatkin, 1991 Fellow and Managing Director of CLF Ventures, a non-profit consulting affiliate of the Conservation Law Foundation, spoke recently with Switzer Network News.  She explained CLF's market-based mechanisms to create funds that achieve environmental goals.  Jo Anne gave brief profiles of CLF's sustainable fisheries trust, which is a fund designed to buy back fishing permits from New England fishermen and then lease them back out on a community scale to help build fisheries back up.  She also discussed CLF's work in brownfields redevelopment and its work with new technologies that promise to enhance sustainability.  Click here for her interview with SNN reporter Jerry Kay.
