Niles new assistant professor of food policy at the University of Vermont
Meredith Niles will begin as an assistant professor of food policy at the University of Vermont in August 2015. She will be in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences and also affiliated with the campus-wide multidisciplinary food systems initiative, which currently has a master’s program and will accept PhD students beginning in 2016. Meredith will continue her work related to farmer responses to climate change and assessing the environmental, production and economic tradeoffs of integrated crop and livestock systems across different policy and climate contexts. She also plans to expand her work into projects related to consumer dietary choices and policy influences and feedbacks between agricultural and food consumer decision-making. She anticipates teaching courses in food systems science, food policy and food systems sustainability.
