Rafe Sagarin Receives Guggenheim Fellowship Award
Rafe Sagarin, marine ecologist at University of Arizona's Institute of the Environment, has received a 2011 Guggenheim Fellowship Award. Rafe plans to use the $40,000 one-year fellowship to help complete two books he is writing: one for Island Press on how science is studying large-scale environmental and social problems, and one for Basic Books on the field of biological adaptation and how it can help humans understand and respond to threats such as terrorism, infectious diseases and natural disasters.
