Salvador Jorgensen, Shark Scientist
A research scientist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Sal Jorgensen has a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and a Ph.D. in marine ecology. He did post-doctoral work at Stanford University.
“Ever since I was a kid,” he says, “I have been fascinated by the ocean, especially sharks.” When Sal was very young, his family moved to the coast of Southern Africa, where he decided he wanted to become a marine biologist. Although he tried other fields of study (art, music, sculpture), he came back to his love of the marine world.
