Genevieve Connors

Genevieve Connors is Water Specialist at the World Bank. She is currently based in the New Delhi office where she works as a core member of the inter-disciplinary Water Resources Coordination Group on issues ranging from basin management to river clean-up to cooperation on transboundary waters.

She received her PhD from MIT in 2007 for a dissertation entitled 'Watering the Slums: How a Utility and its Street-Level Bureaucrats Connected the Poor in Bangalore'. As a Switzer Fellow in 2003-4, she conducted dissertation research in India, where she documented the policies and organizational changes at a public sector water utility that led to widespread water supply improvements in the slums of the city of Bangalore. She holds a B.A. in Modern History from Columbia University and an M.Phil. in International Development from the University of Cambridge, UK. She has worked in Cameroon, China, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
