Supporting Environmentalism in Jewish Life
To hire Daniel Orenstein as a Science Fellow for COEJL where he will work on a variety of environmental initiatives for the organization. Daniel will be hired as senior staff of COEJL and will be responsible for advising the organization at all levels including: 1) developing and expanding the Greening Synagogues initiative to include more synagogues and to expand to other Jewish institutions; 2) briefing senior staff on environmental issues and working with COEJL’s Washington, DC-based lobbyist, and participating in strategic planning for COEJL; 3) increasing outreach and education for COEJL’s Global Climate Change Campaign and working with the Jewish community to increase their understanding of climate change and responsibility towards mitigation efforts; and 4) updating and preparing new educational materials for dissemination within the Jewish Community. Daniel will be based at Brown University’s Watson Center for the Environment and International Studies.
