About Jill's Work
Jill is Marjorie Fisher Professor of Environmental Studies at Mount Holyoke College, where she teaches interdisciplinary environmental science. Her research focuses on northern ecosystems and biogeochemistry of peatlands, including methane and carbon dioxide exchange between ecosystems and the atmosphere. She is particularly interested in peatland plant ecology and hydrochemical gradients. Currently, Jill is conducting research at peatland sites in Ontario to understand the effects of atmospheric nitrogen deposition on plant communities, carbon cycling, and feedbacks to climate.
