About Jun's Work
As Executive Director of the California Native Plant Society, Jun's work is rooted in commitments to protect biodiversity, empower an extensive network of volunteers and staff, and contribute to building a more inclusive conservation community. She serves on California's 30x30 Partnership Coordinating Committee and as equity co-chair of the California Biodiversity Network.
She applies perspectives gained from service in the nonprofit, higher education, and public sectors to lead the development of inclusive teams and strategies. She has served as a senior advisor to the California Council on Science and Technology and as a senior staffer in the U.S. Departments of State and Defense. Previous leadership and strategy experience includes:
- Leading strategy, DEI, and organizational transformation initiatives to enhance the delivery of inclusive science policy advice to the State of California.
- Aiding in the design of future university research systems to enhance student and faculty support and the societal impacts of research.
- Providing strategy, policy, and communications support to build coalitions, enable multinational humanitarian and security operations, and advance U.S. foreign policy interests.
Jun has a B.S. in Environmental Studies from San Jose State University and Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of California-Davis. She is a 2002 Switzer Fellow and a 2006-07 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow.
