About Karen's Work
Karen is the Director of Water and Coastal Policy at the National Audubon Society. Prior to this position, she served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks at the Department of the Interior, and held several senior positions at the Department of Commerce and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She also served as professional staff on the Natural Resources Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. She has a Ph.D. in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island. Her dissertation work, which was supported through the Switzer Fellowship, focused on ecosystem-based management of the Colorado River Delta. Karen also holds a M.S. and B.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University.
