About Kristen's Work
Kristen Puryear graduated with her masters degree from UVM in 2004, and is currently working for Maine's Department of Conservation as a Community Ecologist. Her work within the Maine Natural Areas Program focuses on inventorying and mapping rare plants and natural communities throughout the state, and identifying wetland restoration and conservation opportunities for a diverse group of landowners including the State of Maine, large timber companies, local land trusts and small landowners. She enjoys being able to bring science and management together, to create new partnerships and new strategies for protecting natural features in both wilderness areas and working landscapes.
