Kyra Busch

Kyra has been a Program Officer at the Christensen Fund since 2012 supporting Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities around the world. She has managed programs in Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty, Resilient Biocultural Landscapes, and Indigenous Rights and Representation globally and on the Colorado Plateau and California domestically.  Kyra co-launched the multi-donor AgroEcology Fund and currently serves on the Steering Committee of the Global Alliance for the Future of Food and as Pesticide Action Network Trustee.    Prior to joining the Christensen Fund, Kyra fostered local food sovereignty for over a decade. Alongside the Alternative Agriculture Network of Thailand and Educational Network for Global and Grassroots Exchange, she worked on successful initiatives to certify and import Fair Trade Thai jasmine rice to the U.S. and to prevent an inequitable U.S.-Thai free trade agreement. With the White Earth Land Recovery Project in northern Minnesota, Kyra spearheaded the nation’s first Indigenous farm-to-school program and managed a culturally relevant food delivery program for diabetic elders on the White Earth Nation.    Kyra holds a Master’s degree in Social Ecology of Conservation and Development from the Yale School of the Environment. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental and Social Justice and Political Science from Indiana University.
