About Matt's Work
Matt has a PhD and M.Eng in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and a Master of Science from the Technology and Policy Program (TPP), from MIT (2012, 2003, 2006). Matt has over five years of field experience in Africa training partners and developing solar technology, including two years serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho (2000-2002) and a year as a Fulbright fellow in South Africa (2010). Matt is also an Echoing Green fellow (2012). As an engineer with policy training Matt's aim is to design infrastructure that balances global sustainability and the unmet needs and aspirations of the developing world, with a focus on energy and climate change. He is a founder of the non-profit STG International, a group dedicated to providing training for affordable renewable energy technology that can serve clinics, schools, and communities in remote areas.
