About Rafeed's Work
Born in Bangladesh and raised in the United States, Rafeed is a former Ocean Planning Program Specialist & Special Assignment Photographer at Ocean Conservancy. A graduate of the University of Connecticut (BS ’17), his passion for the ocean and climate justice was cultivated growing up on the shores of Long Island Sound in Southeastern Connecticut and informed by his immigrant roots.
Rafeed is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree in Marine Affairs at the University of Rhode Island. His research focuses on offshore wind development perceptions and impacts on coastal communities. Although Rafeed has a brain trained in natural and social sciences, his heart lies in photography and science communication. When he’s not hard at work, you’ll find Rafeed exploring a beach, hiking in a forest, star gazing in an open field, or watching football— always with his trusty camera within reach.
