About Rebecca's Work
Rebecca is a master's student in Wildlife Management at Humboldt State University. Her thesis research focuses on identifying nest predators of Swainson's Thrush in fragmented coast redwood habitat. Her hope is to better understand the reasons for recent declines in this species, and how breeding productivity relates to habitat loss and fragmentation. She earned a B.S. in Bioethics from Bates College. Her interest in environmental issues encompasses diverse topics such as biotechnology policy, environmental fundraising, Tibetan ethnobotany, and organic farming as well songbird research. She has worked on bird research in California, Maine, Idaho, Guatemala, and Chiapas. Rebecca intends to continue conservation-oriented songbird research in Northern California, as well as working on international conservation policies directed at protecting migratory bird species.
