About Renee's Work
Renee is participating on the multi-disciplinary Cal/EPA team implementing the Environmental Management System Innovation Initiative (http://www.calepa.ca.gov/EMS/). Through the evaluation of environmental mangement systems in pilot projects, research into other States' initiatives, and community dialogue, Cal/EPA hopes to uncover and highlight systems and practices that will provide superior environmental performance and lead us toward a more sustainable California. She is working to inform public policy makers and engage stakeholders in determining whether and how the use of an EMS by an organization increases public health and environmental protection and provides better public information than existing regulatory requirements. Renee's consulting, graduate/post-graduate research, and teaching experiences include solid and hazardous waste management, wastewater treatment, water and air quality, environmental and resource economics, market-based policy instruments, and systems modeling and analysis.
