About Roland's Work
Roland is currently an Assistant Professor in Biology at Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. His research, in partnership with the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, concerns the effect of forest fragmentation on eastern hardwood forest tree growth and reproduction. Roland is continuing his collaboration with biologists at the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California on Tecate cypress and whether different fire regimes in the U.S. and Mexico influence the population dynamics of this fire-adapted tree, and further how these populations may respond to global warming. He is also continuing his research on the ecology and conservation of the eastern rainforest in Madagascar.
