Shannon Graham

Shannon Graham brings six years of over-seas development experience in the field of renewable energy to her current work at the Energy and Resources Group (ERG), at the University of California Berkeley. Previously based in the Dominican Republic and Chiapas, Mexico, Shannon worked for Enersol Associates, Inc. throughout Latin America with local organizations, individuals, communities and government to tailor renewable energy options to rural development needs. Her work has resulted in not only numerous off-grid electrical systems which improve quality of life through access to water, electricity and communications, but also in human and institutional capacity to maintain and replicate projects in the future. Shannon is presently pursuing a Master's degree from UC Berkeley's Energy and Resources Group and is working with the recently formed Renewable and Appropriate Energy Laboratory. She is directing her research to both the practical and broader policy questions of how to expand access to renewable energy options in both developing and industrialized countries. Though her work she hopes to find pertinent and practical solutions to support both local developmental and global greenhouse gas mitigation goals. Currently her field research is in Kenya. Shannon graduated Cum Laude from Tufts University with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1992 and is fluent in Spanish. She is a 1999 recipient of the American Association of University Women Fellowship, is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and has various publications.
