About Sharon's Work
Sharon J. Smith is passionate about protecting the world's remaining tropical forests and advocating for forest conservation as a key strategy for maintaining a healthy climate. Her current focus is on transforming agricultural commodity supply chains associated with tropical deforestation, working along the value chain from producer to corporate buyer, to embed sustainability into business operations.
She is a strategist and advocate with a twenty year career focused on catalyzing corporate sustainability. She has worked with more than two dozen Fortune 500 companies to develop landmark sustainability commitments and advises NGOs, investors and consulting firms on strategies for shifting private sector actors.
In 2012 she completed her Master of Environmental Management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
She's the author of The Young Activist's Guide to Building a Green Movement and Changing the World, and she remains deeply passionate about nurturing citizen movements and entrepreneurs at the heart of environmental change efforts.
