About Shereen's Work
Shereen has over 20 years of experience working at the intersections of environment, climate and equity. From grassroots food justice work in Oakland, CA, to leading the U.S. State Department’s adaptation and loss and damage team and negotiating the Paris Agreement, to researching the benefits and risks to smallholder communities of engaging with carbon market projects, Shereen has dedicated her career to advancing this important suite of issues. Prior to being appointed to her current position, Shereen held roles at US EPA Region 9, AECOM, the US State Department and worked as an independent consultant. Shereen also spent 10 years as a food justice and food sovereignty advocate, including as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras.
