Stephen Moch

Stephen Moch is pursuing a joint Master in Business Administration and Master in Public Policy from Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, where he is a David M. Rubenstein Fellow and George Leadership Fellow with the Center for Public Leadership, as well as a Switzer Environmental Leadership Fellow. Stephen’s studies focus on the role of public and private sector leadership in driving an economy-wide transition towards sustainability.   Stephen is also a Member of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Climate-Related Market Risk Subcommittee, appointed as an independent expert to advise the financial regulatory system on climate risk. He served as Associate Editor for the Subcommittee’s report, Managing Climate Risk in the U.S. Financial System.   Prior to graduate school, Stephen spent four years with the Environmental Markets Group within Goldman Sachs’ Executive Office, where he helped formulate and implement the firm’s global environmental strategy and key business initiatives across sustainable finance. Stephen’s efforts were focused on catalyzing market-based solutions including clean energy financing and investment, innovative green bonds, the first-ever Environmental Impact Bond, ESG and impact investing, and 100% renewable energy procurement. He also worked on a range of Executive Office functions around environmental issues, including government affairs, corporate communications, risk management and executive strategy. Additionally, Stephen has held summer positions across the sustainability field, spanning energy start-ups (Malta Inc., Arcadia Power), venture capital (MizMaa Ventures), private equity (Hudson Clean Energy Partners), research (Vice President Al Gore’s Generation Foundation), and policy (Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers).   Stephen received an A.B. with honors from Princeton University, majoring in Public and International Affairs with minors in Sustainable Energy and Environmental Studies. He was awarded the T.A. Barron Prize for Environmental Leadership, co-founded the Princeton Sustainable Investment Initiative, and was a four-year member of the varsity fencing team which won the 2013 NCAA Division 1 Championship.
