Susan Clark

Susan Clark is an author and facilitator, focusing on community sustainability and civic participation. Her most recent book is _Slow Democracy: Rediscovering Community and Bringing Decision-making Back Home_ (Chelsea Green, Fall, 2012), co-authored with Woden Teachout. She is also the co-author, with University of Vermont professor Frank Bryan, of _All Those In Favor: Rediscovering the Secrets of Town Meeting and Community_ (RavenMark, 2005). Susan’s work with rural Vermonters strengthening communities has included directing a community activists’ network and facilitating town visioning forums. She served as communication and education director of the Vermont Natural Resources Council, and Coordinator of the University of Vermont's Environmental Programs In Communities (EPIC) project, working with rural Vermonters to strengthen connections in local communities, and teaches community development at the college level. An editor, writer, and advocate of public dialogue, she is an award-winning radio commentator and serves as the Town Moderator of her town. Susan lives with her husband and son in Middlesex, Vermont. Susan's thesis focused on the relationship between grassroots environmental advocacy and personal political power.
