About Susan's Work

After completing her PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, with a focus on bioaccumulation and toxicity of sediment-associated organic contaminants. After graduate school Susan continued her research as a National Research Council Research Fellow at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab and as a Research Scientist at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science. From 1997 to 2006 Susan worked as a Senior Scientist at Menzie-Cura & Assoc., Inc. an environmental consulting company specializing in ecological risk assessments for contaminated sites. Presently, she is a Managing Scientist at Exponent, Inc. Her current interests include food chain transfer of organic contaminants, pharmacokinetic modeling of sediment bioaccumulation, and toxic effects of organic contaminants to aquatic organisms.
