Teniope Adewumi-Gunn

Teniope Adewumi-Gunn is currently a Science Fellow at NRDC focusing on the intersection of climate change and worker health. Her research looks for solutions to address the climate impacts faced by workers, with a focus on underserved worker groups, emerging occupational climate hazards, and pathways to science-based policies. An industrial hygienist by training, Adewumi-Gunn has occupational and environmental health consulting experience in the United States, Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Her experience with worker health spans numerous industries including manufacturing, aerospace, real estate, construction, and agriculture. Adewumi-Gunn was previously the environmental justice research and policy manager for the nonprofit Black Women for Wellness, where she led advocacy efforts to regulate the chemicals found in the cosmetic products used by consumers and beauty-care professionals. Her work has been featured in HuffPost Live, Cosmopolitan, Essence Online, Atlantic CityLab, ThinkProgress, and more. She completed her B.S. in Health Sciences at California State University, San Bernardino, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Health Sciences⁠ (Industrial Hygiene) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
