Yesenia Gallardo

Born in South Central Los Angeles and raised by her mother, a Mexican immigrant, Yesenia’s work seeks to further the dialogue about food and sustainability as one that better understands and addresses injustices in the globalized food system. She is now completing her Master of Environmental Management Degree at Yale’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Her studies focus on urban food systems, food access and food justice. She is currently working on a research project that examines the perceptions of Latina women toward organic foods in Portland, Oregon. She is also a co-organizer for the Yale Food Systems Symposium, a student-run conference that brings together practitioners and scholars to foster transdisciplinary dialogue about innovation and academia in food.
