About Zineb's Work
Zineb Bouzoubaa is a Senior Data Climate Specialist at Bloomberg, where she is part of the newly-formed GFANZ (Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero) team. In this role, she uses data to drive the global financial sector’s work to ensure financing and capital allocation decisions enable the world to reach net zero by 2050 and combat the worst effects of global climate change.
Zineb was a Policy Advisor in the New York City Mayor's Office of Sustainability where she worked on data analysis and policy development related to achieving an energy efficient, carbon neutral building stock. She oversaw development of a first-of-its-kind carbon-trading scheme that will mobilize NYC’s large buildings to cut their emissions 80% by 2050. She developed a model that projects both new construction and its energy consumption to design a policy that ensures all NYC new construction operates at net zero carbon by 2030.
Prior to joining the Mayor’s Office, Zineb was a graduate student at UC Berkeley, where she completed her Master of Public Policy with a focus on energy policy. Her thesis was centered on battery storage implementation and investigating policy barriers to market entry. She has also previously worked as a Sustainability Analyst at General Motors and was a graduate student researcher at the California Public Utilities Commission where she analyzed the efficacy of renewables for low-income housing in the face of time-of-use rates. Zineb graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill - where she was a Colonel Robinson Scholar and a Buick Achievers Scholar - with degrees in Mathematics and Environmental Sciences and Engineering. Zineb is from Atlanta, a proud former Marching Tar Heel, an aspiring triathlete, and enjoys reading and gardening in her spare time.
