About Cynthia's Work

Cynthia Fleming completed her Master's Degree in the Field Naturalist Program at the University of Vermont. Cynthia studied the effects of ranching schedules on bobolinks nesting in irrigated hayfields on The Nature Conservancy's Carpenter Ranch in the Yampa Valley of Colorado. Before graduate school, Cynthia taught environmental education at the Teton Science School, Yosemite Institute, and worked in the Sierras helping to identify subalpine meadows as 'Important Bird Areas' for conservation management. She received her bachelors in Environmental Studies from Brown University. Cynthia worked for the Wilderness Society in Boston as an ecologist for the northeast. There, she worked on ecological reserve mapping of the Northern Forest and on infusing the ecological values of wilderness and roadless areas into TWS' communications campaign. Currently, Cynthia is the Outreach Coordinator for the Ipswich River Watershed Association, overseeing IRWA's communications and implementing programs to engage more people in protecting the Ipswich River.
