Shemitz on damage at SoundWaters after Sandy
While SoundWaters Executive Director Leigh Shemitz washed boots and hung items to dry, she said it could take up to two weeks to clean and organize the facility.
Meanwhile, volunteers found four of the organization's missing canoes that drifted into Holy Pond during the storm. At the height of the storm, a rack in the boat shed holding 12 canoes turned 90 degrees and damaged the rustic wood building. Shemitz said the shed was damaged beyond repair and will have to be taken down.
Staff members are still trying to locate two wayward canoes and some kayaks.
