Switzer Fellows Quoted in Scientific American on Payments for Ecosystem Services
An international symposium on Payments for Ecosystem Services ("PES") organized by 2007 Fellow Nicole Gross-Camp, conservation biologist at the University of East Anglia in England, received attention in a recent article on PES in the journal, Scientific American. Nicole organized the symposium which was attended by scientists from around the world. Nicole spoke with Scientific American about her project, ReDirect Rwanda, an experimental project focused on examining the potential of PES to achieve both conservation and development objectives in the Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda. Also quoted in the article is 1998 Fellow Josh Donlan on his work with conservation mortgages as a method for reducing habitat destruction.
